1.) My desire to become an esthetician started from an early age, I was curious why some people experience skin challenges while others don’t, which sparked my interest in learning more about skin health and care. As a teenager, confidence didn’t always come easily to me, and I understood how much our skin can affect the way we feel about ourselves.
2.) The biggest impact the Catherine Hinds Institute of Esthetics had on me was the quality of training and hands-on experience. It helped me understand not only the technical side of esthetics, but also the importance of professionalism, client care, and continued learning throughout your career.
The school has always had a strong reputation for producing successful, long-term professionals in the industry, and that was important to me. I knew I didn’t just want a job—I wanted a lasting career. Catherine Hinds gave me the tools, education, and confidence to walk out the door ready to succeed and continue growing in a field I truly love.
3.) What I love most about being an esthetician is the connection I build with my clients over time. The one-on-one space allows me to truly listen and understand what might make their day—or their skin—feel a little better. Sharing in the small wins together, whether it’s progress with their skin or simply giving someone a peaceful moment in their day, is incredibly meaningful to me.
Over the years, those moments grow into trust and long-term relationships that go far beyond a service. After more than 20 years in this field, it’s still my favorite place to be. I often reflect on how fortunate I was to discover this path at a young age and to spend my career working in such a calming, healing environment while helping people feel more confident in themselves.
4.) My advice to future estheticians is to find your passion within the services you provide and stay rooted in a place where you can build long-term relationships with your clients. Consistency matters in this industry, and trust takes time to grow. When you give yourself the opportunity to stay in one place and nurture those relationships, you build a loyal clientele that will support your career for years to come.
Most importantly, remember that clients are the heart of what we do. They are the ones who allow us to practice the work we love. Make every moment of their experience about them—listening, caring, and creating a space where they feel valued and truly taken care of.
One of my favorite treatments to perform is hard wax Brazilian services. It’s a service that requires both skill and trust, and I take pride in creating an experience where clients feel comfortable, cared for, and confident. Like many areas of esthetics, it also becomes a space where long-term client relationships grow, which is one of the most rewarding parts of my career.
