Catherine Hinds Institute is committed to supporting the education of every student.

The Learning Resource System offers both on-site and electronic resource materials that are aimed to enhance the educational experience of our student body.

On-Site Learning Resources

Students are welcomed to access various resources during school operating hours to supplement their in-class and hands-on education, and to assist with the completion of out-of-class assignments.

MA Board of Registration of Cosmetology and Barbering

“The Board of Registration of Cosmetology and Barbering regulates cosmetology, barbering, and electrology in the Commonwealth in accordance with state regulations. The Board issues licenses to qualified individuals, businesses, and schools to ensure public health and safety by maintaining high standards for each industry.”

Estheticians in the state of Massachusetts are regulated by the Board of Cosmetology and Barbering. Access this site for license information, as well as policies and regulations.

Services include:

  • Job search assistance and access to online job listings
  • Career counseling
  • Coaching on job search skills
  • Workshops on a variety of job search strategies

  • Specialized services for veterans, dislocated workers, disabled workers, and other special groups

Associated Skin Care Professionals

“Associated Skin Care Professionals (ASCP) is the nation’s largest association for skin care professionals, helping members build successful careers by providing liability insurance coverage, advanced and on-demand continuing education by famous educators, our award-winning ASCP Skin Deep magazine, business and marketing tools, 50+ money-saving discounts, and dedicated legislative advocacy. ”

All students enrolled after January 1, 2020 with have access to ASCP services, included as part of their tuition.

ASCP tools include: resume, business card, and professional portfolio development, which could be used to complete required Core Esthetics projects; as well as the ASCP Skin Care Glossary, which may assist students in completing the required Ingredient Comparison report.
American Spa

American Spa is a free online magazine targeting the needs of professionals in the spa industry.  Click on the link below and create your own account today or click to the icon to the left for access to the archive of online newsletters.

Students have access to numerous free resources from DERMASCOPE’s online library, including industry related articles, videos, and product guides.  Please note: Access to DERMASCOPE Magazine requires a fee-based subscription.

Students are encouraged to create their own NASNPRO membership for free, for access to industry related education events and online articles and spa related resources.
American Academy of Dermatology Association

American Cancer Society

Look Good, Feel Better

Skin Cancer Foundation

National Rosacea Society

Cosmetics Info:  The Science and Safety Behind Your Favorite Products
Expand is an information Website that includes factual, scientific information on ingredients most commonly used in cosmetics and personal care products in the United States. The Personal Care Products Council (the Council) and its member companies sponsor this Website to provide consumers with easily accessible safety information about cosmetics and personal care products and to help educate the public.”

Students may find this site helpful while researching for the Core Esthetics  Ingredient project.
Environmental Working Group

EWG’s Skin Deep Cosmetic Database profiles cosmetic ingredients and products.  Students may find this tool useful when completing the Core Esthetics Ingredient Project.
PCA Skin

Explore the line utilized in CHI’s Master Esthetics programs.  Through the PCA website, students may access product information, the science behind common skin conditions, and articles examining popular cosmetic ingredients.

CK-12 Foundation

Are you looking for further reading on the science portions of the curriculum?  Students may create their own personal accounts through CK-12 Foundation to access high quality, science based lessons, on topics ranging from chemistry, electricity, body systems, and more.  Below are a few examples of topics covered on CK-12 (please note, you will not have access to the lessons below until you register for a personal, free account, directly through CK-12).
